Attention Santa Fe Students – Our friends at the Earth’s Birthday Project want to hear from students who received a packet of sunflower seeds at the end of last school year. All Santa Fe Elementary School students are asked to take their survey. If you want to participate, click on the link below.

I tried to participate in the Great Sunflower Project (www.greatsunflower.org/) but I had difficulty getting my seeds to germinate. Luckily, I have an oregano plant out front and – who knew!?! – the neighborhood bees loved the oregano. There were often 20 bees in the small (3′x3′) oregano bush from sunrise to sunset, and the flowers lasted almost a month.
We tried to do the sunflower project in our 7th grade Earth Science Class last year, but it did not work out as great as i thought it would. I got my seeds to sprout and I journaled about them. After i got all eight of the journals my teacher sent them back for the contest. We never heard back from them so I guess I did not win.
