Bella’s Journal

January 14th, 2009

My house in Arraial D’Ajuda has two hammocks and one sitting chair that rocks. It rains like five times a day or more. I am planning to buy a baby iguana or two, but I haven’t found a pet store. My favorite thing to do is to watch my gecko, called Geico the Geeky Gecko. He is white and I can almost see through him. He has a pair of big eyes and feet that stick to the wall. He sometimes comes into the house and he eats the mosquitoes and moths, and ants, and bees, and wasps. His eyes are big and brown, black, white, and green. He has a family. I saw little geckos in the bathroom today.

    Hello Bella!

Our neighbors in San Antonio had an iguana. He was beautiful but he was a lot of work. I bet it wouldn’t be hard to find food to feed him in Peru but it can be hard to find the right stuff to feed them here.

Michael has a pet turtle, Little Miami, named after the Miami river that runs through Dayton. When we got her she was blind in one eye, I didn’t think she would live very long. She is a little painted turtle about the size of a quarter. Would you believe it, she is still alive!! I hope that Geico lives for a long time. Can you see any of his organs? Who named him?

What did you think of your trek? Is it hard to hike in all of the rain? What is your favorite food there?

We love keeping up with your travels!

    Fondly,

    Hello Bella and Kirkman family,

So sorry we haven’t been in contact, we don’t have a home computer anymore because we moved them into our office space. We look forward to getting a laptop for home soon. Also, so sorry to hear that you guys were robbed! That had to be the scariest experience ever!

Thank you Cyrus for sending the link to your website. We love seeing your big adventure and wish we could be there too! We’d love to see a picture of Geico the Geeky Gekco! He sounds so cool. Dylan just got a Ball Python for his 11th birthday. He named it Monty.

Well,.. we will be checking in often now that we have the website.

    Love to you all,
The Blacks – Dave, Jody, Dylan, Jared and Logan
